Like many parents at Ambleside Online, I strive to emulate Charlotte Mason’s methods in our homeschool as closely as possible. As much as I love our classical schooling, the modern world interjects itself into our school day and simply refuses to be ignored. I started this blog because I have decided to approach the technology proactively instead of reactively. Charlotte Mason never had access to the technology and media resources that we have today, and yet I can easily imagine that she would have addressed the issue with purpose. She would have educated herself with the most up-to-date research, and she would have compared it with great thought movements from the past. She would have evaluated the media and use of technology with a critical eye toward its impact on her students’ development as people. Because she is not here to guide our work, we will have to continue it the best that we can. I look forward to creating a space for that conversation.

My primary hope is that you and I will feel more empowered together as this project moves forward!
